The finest bars in downtown Denver

The Mile-High City is famous for its outdoorsy activities, restaurants, hiking trails, shopping malls and natural vistas. But there’s more to Denver than meets the eye. After the sun sets, bars in downtown Denver open their doors and start welcoming droves of happy customers. Whether you want a cold pint or a flamed shot, Denver’s vibrant nightlife has much to offer.

In my latest trip to Denver, we hit the streets and painted the town red. There were many fantastic places to discover including bars and restaurants in Denver downtown, but these were my favorites.

Union Lodge No.1

Located in downtown Denver’s Champa street, Union Lodge No. 1 is a slick speakeasy. Its gorgeous Prohibition-era style and 19th century-inspired glamorous cocktails, it’s a unique, unparalleled experience. It feels like a bar right out of one of those old detective pulp magazines.

It’s a rather tiny bar, so make sure to get there early if you want to get a good spot. The drinks are delicious, and the bartenders are super friendly and welcoming. It’s a great place to dress up and feel like you’ve walked right into a movie. Make sure you don’t miss it!

The 1up – LoDo

The 1UP, located in Denver’s Lower Downtown area, is a spectacular arcade bar, perfect for retro, 80s and 90s gaming fans. Taking a nostalgic trip through memory lane with beers and Mrs. Pac-Man is indeed something. The selection of arcade machines is outstanding! And when it comes to beer, the selection is no smaller. You’ll love The 1UP’s broad offering of affordable beer cans and 40 oz bottles. Finally, a place to put all those quarters to good use!

The Cruise Room

The original Denver cocktail bar, the historic Cruise Room at the Oxford Hotel was the very first bar opened after the end of Prohibition, in 1933. Modeled after the Queen Mary’s bar, and it exudes class and style.

There are exquisite options regarding food and drink, but keep in mind the kitchen closes at 10 pm. Make sure to try the famous Cruise Room martini, an establishment staple. Sunday through Thursdays they close at 11 pm, but Fridays and Saturdays, it’s on until dawn! I regularly go here to meet my Denver web designclients.

Nallen’s Irish Pub

Denver’s oldest Irish pub is located in lower downtown’s Market Street. It’s the most authentic Irish pub in town, and while it has no kitchen or food offerings, there are happy hour specials every day of the week! I particularly recommend the car bombs.

The service is outstanding; warm, welcoming and kind bartenders make you feel right at home. And if you happen to visit Denver on St. Patrick’s Day, Nallen’s Irish Pub is the epicenter every year!

My Brother’s Bar

My Brother’s Bar, established in 1873, is Denver’s oldest bar, and it still serves locals and tourists with the same gusto nearly 150 years after opening the shop. Its famous burgers are the stuff of legends, like the famous Johnny burger, featuring jalapeño cream cheese and grilled onions.

And its selection of beers is ample and inexpensive. It’s an amazing place to hang out with dear friends or family, and one of the coziest bars in downtown Denver.

This is seriously an awesome place to party with my Denver SEO teammates.

Williams & Graham

Open every day from 5 pm to 1 am, Williams & Graham offers classic cocktails and stylish ambiance in downtown Denver’s Tejon street. Skilled bartenders will shake up or stir any cocktail you can name. I especially recommend the house cocktails.

I loved the Strawberry Fields, with Plantation 3 Star Rum, Smith and Cross, Strawberry Syrup, Tio Pepe Fino Sherry, Lime, Mint, and Coriander Tincture.

Well, that should be more than enough to get you going for now!
