4 places to check out the Houston nightlife.

I’ve been enjoying my time in Houston so far meeting with some of our Houston SEO clients and I was really looking forward to discovering the best of the downtown Houston nightlife.

Love the people, love the food, and love the energy you can breathe all around you, all the time. And the best way to experience that energy is by going to those places that only open up when the sun goes down, and the music gets louder.

That being said, parties are not created equally, and not two clubs are the same.

With so much to do, and so many possibilities to go around having a good time enjoying the downtown Houston nightlife, finding the right place that fits your mood and your group of friends can be tricky.

Sometimes we want a relaxed place with a nice ambiance that lets you just sit back and knock a few drinks with your buddies. Sometimes you crave for some loud music, great drinks and a lot of electricity.

To help you around with that, I thought I should make a brief list of a few essential places I think you should definitively check out the next time you are out in Houston, looking to have a good time.

The Commoner & The Boulevardier

Right in the heart of downtown Houston sits The Boulevardier.

Just as their owners will tell you, it is “A comfortable retreat from main street.” It is actually one of the two ambiances of the Commoner bar, which gives you a less “refined” place to listen to some music while sharing a few glasses with your group of friends.

The DJ knows what he’s doing, and the drinks are well crafted and priced reasonably.

Take a look at their Gallery, and you’ll instinctively know if the place is what you are looking for that night, but in my opinion, you can’t go wrong (and with the Commoner bar just downstairs you get the best of two worlds for the price of one).

Prohibition Superclub & Bar

Have you ever heard the term “A dinner and a show”? No place lives up to it better than this.

Just like the Boulevardier, Prohibition provides an array of activities which are sure to peek your attention from a couple of different angles. Yes, there is a theater side of things, where you can get great live entertainment, from fantastic Jazz to grand scene performance. But you also have the bar, where you can grab a bite and sample their extensive repertoire of original cocktails.

PS: If you are a whiskey, craft beer, or boutique whines… boy do they have the stuff for you.

Texas Hookah Lounge

Now let’s switch gears a little bit.

Maybe you want something more kicked back and quiet, but with an original spin. A cool place to hang out to start your evening and the get conversation started. Texas Hookah Lounge is bound to give you that.

If you are a hookah lover (and even if you haven’t ever tried it), this place is worth a visit. They have hundreds of flavors available paired with the best quality hookahs for you to enjoy while offering an interesting change of pace that is certainly appreciated.

If you are looking for something different, I’d at least give this place a look. But do keep in mind that this is only for early evenings because they serve up until 10 pm.

Now here’s a party.

There’s little I want to say about Barbarella since I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but if you are over 21 and looking for an awesome night out for dance and drinks, definitively check out this place.

I warn you: it does get pretty crowded. So keep in mind that your trips to the bar might take a little while, but I’m telling you, it’s worth it.

Epic music, great ambiance, 80’s night, 90’s night…. You just have to check it out, trust me.
