Facebook in 2021 decided to change its name to Meta and also announced that the company was in the process of creating its own Metaverse, which will be a socially-driven virtual world for the users of the social networking platform where they can meet, socailize, work, create things, buy and sell, do business and make profits. This inspired the creation of many other metaverses, even before the launch of Facebook’s metaverse. Some of the top most popular metaverse in existence today are Decentraland, Sandbox, Axie Infinity, Bloktopia, among others. As a first step, Facebook has already launched Horizon Worlds virtual reality world.
