When was the metaverse created?

The term “metaverse” was first used in Neil Stevenson’s 1982 novel Snow Crash. Stevenson’s Metaverse was a virtual space where characters could go to escape a dreary totalitarian reality. In the early 1990s, Sega introduced VR arcade machines such as the SEGA VR-1 motion simulator, which users enjoyed in many arcades. After that many more development happened in this field which resulted in the current Metaverse world. Thus it can be considered as that metverse as a term was introduced in 1982 but its history is not that clear. Normally people connect it with introduction of VR world and VR headsets.
